Gebretinsae Family to Arrive March 24

In March of 2023 the application for Mengestab Gebretinsae and his 3 children was submitted to IRCC (Immigration Canada) by our parish. A family from Eritrea, they had been living in Khartoum, Sudan for a number of years as refugees. Within weeks of the application being sent in, the civil war in Sudan broke out. The family first fled to southern Sudan, but soon moved on to Kampala, Uganda, where they have been living until now.

As well as being sponsored by the parish, they are being co-sponsored by Mengestab’s sister, Letezghi, and brother-in-law, Mawael, who attend Mass at Holy Family with their children. Letezghi and Mawael are providing housing and other major support when Mengestab and children arrive on March 24, along with a settlement team of parishioners.
