Settlement Teams

Fundraising for Sponsoring Eritrean Family
(updated July 15th)

Eritrean Family Settlement Plan

Settlement Teams work with the Diocese in the support of refugee(s) to Canada. Since 2016, teams have been working with two Syrian families and three young men from Eritrea. In each case, there are roles to be performed in finding and setting up housing, assisting them regarding shopping, transportation, finances and medical appointments and introducing them to the Fredericton community.

In Autumn 2023, in cooperation with Hanwell
Community and St. James Presbyterian churches, the
Parish collected furnishings to help a Ukrainian family
move into their own house.

Most recently, the Parish raised money and formed a
team to assist an Eritrean family to move to Fredericton.
The application has been sent to IRCC (Immigration
Canada). The family was living in Khartoum, Sudan.
They have been able to move to a part of Sudan less
affected by the violence that broke out in Sudan in
Spring 2023.
